The Catcher's Mask

written by Matt Christopher, illustrated by Bert Dodson

Rudy is a catcher for the Peach Street Mudders, and lately he's not been playing very well. He's really feeling down and blames the crummy mask he's wearing for his troubles. Then one day Rudy spots an old catcher's mask at a garage sale with the initials Y.B. on it. Could this have belonged to his hero Yogi Berra? Rudy is convinced it did and when he wears it, he begins to play better. It must be the mask --- something magical that has been passed to him from the great major leaguer, Berra. What do you think? You'll have to read this action-packed story to find out about the magic in the mask that Rudy found that day.
