Shadow Weaver

SHADOW WEAVER by MarcyKate Connolly will cast a spell over you. Emmeline is a special girl with an incredible ability to control shadows. People fear Emmeline’s magical abilities --- even her parents. One day, a noble family appears and offers to take Emmeline with them so they can cure her magical abilities. Emmeline knows she must run away from home.

"SHADOW WEAVER by MarcyKate Connolly will cast a spell over you."

Using the shadows to make her invisible, Emmeline vanishes from home with her only friend, a shadow named Dar. She is scared and lonely, but holds onto the possibility of Dar becoming human again. It is only possible because a real shadow weaver, like Emmeline, can bring Dar to life again.

Emmeline imagines all the fun she’ll have with a real friend. That is, until she meets Lucas and his parents. Suddenly real friendship seems possible, especially after she learns that Lucas also has magical talents of his own. But Dar needs Emmeline to turn her into a human again, so she sows the seeds of doubt about the new friends.

SHADOW WEAVER explores feelings of loneliness, guilt, trust and friendship. Who would you trust if those closest to you betray you? Is stealing and lying really that bad if you’re helping one friend, but your gut tells you that you’re hurting people who show you kindness? Emmeline struggles with all of these feelings. She is trying to do the right thing even when the answer isn’t clear. This is what makes the character so endearing. Emmeline learns that listening to your instincts can help you see the light.
