Regarding the Bathrooms: A Privy to the Past

written by Kate Klise, illustrated by M. Sarah Klise

Wally Russ, the principal of Geyser Creek Middle School, is frozen with fear. He has to host the forthcoming Principals and Administrators convention, but before the big day arrives, he wants the school's disgusting basement bathrooms to be renovated. So he enlists the help of the students who are attending summer school and hires famous decorator Florence Waters to help. Unfortunately, Florence is on vacation in --- where else? --- Bath, England. During the excavation, the students discover that the school was built on the site of the Geyser Creek Bath and Spas.

Meanwhile, there are two escaped convicts on the loose with a human mole who's hiding them. It turns out they're in the illegal business of selling rare artifacts that they steal from an unknown source. By a strange coincidence, some of the students discover an ancient coin and an unusual-looking piece that looks like stone, and they send their findings to Interpol. Hugh Dunit, the head of investigations, writes back to inform them that they have uncovered some rare artifacts that must be connected to the crooks' activities.

The Middle School students are so brilliant that, while working hard at their summer internships, they find the time and energy to form a detective agency in the hopes of capturing the escaped convicts and breaking up their illegal artifact ring. Of course, at the same time they must excavate and renovate the old school bathrooms, turning the ancient Roman bath into a spa in time for the convention.

The fourth book in Kate and M. Sarah Klise's Regarding the... series takes bathroom humor to new heights...or is it depths? In subtle and not-so-subtle ways, it covers such subjects as toilets, flushes, bowel movements and constipation. If you don't mind bathroom humor and can suspend disbelief, you'll love REGARDING THE BATHROOMS. In keeping with the subject of the book (and please excuse this awful pun): everything comes out right in the end.
