Biography

Violeta Dabija

My name is Violeta Dabija and I'm a freelance children's book illustrator from Republic of Moldova, Eastern Europe.
I have a strong art background (a BA degree in Fine Arts/Graphic Design) and 5 years full-time employment experience as a children's book illustrator for a major local publishing house. In 2005 I decided to go freelance and promote my work out of my country. Currently I am a full-time freelancer and work with clients from all over the world.
My focus is on producing magic pictures, whimsical and unique environments for my characters. I keep my work simple and clear but I pay meticulous attention to detail. I work in both traditional and digital media and I also love combining traditional and digital techniques while retaining the traditional feel of the illustration. I enjoy illustrating children's books and find nothing better than making people happy with my work.
I have illustrated about 25 children's books and my work has been featured in the 07/08 Edition of 200 Best Illustrators worldwide.

If you like my style and are interested in working with me, please don't hesitate to contact me at illustrator@violetadabija.com I'd love to hear from you. I hope you enjoy my images and thank you for stopping by.

by Laura Purdie Salas and Violeta Dabija - Children's, Children's Nonfiction, Nonfiction, Picture, Science

Rocks may seem like boring, static objects --- until you discover that a rock can spark a fire, glow in the dark, and provide shelters of all shapes and sizes. Laura Purdie Salas's lyrical rhyming text and Violeta Dabija's glowing illustrations show how rocks decorate and strengthen the world around them.
