Interview: Sandra Dallas, author of Red Berries, White Clouds, Blue Sky

Sep 24, 2014

When author Sandra Dallas was younger, she loved the Nancy Drew series because the young detective was smart and independent --- she didn’t depend on a boy to rescue her. Tomi, the 12-year-old protagonist of Sandra’s latest book RED BERRIES, WHITE CLOUDS, BLUE SKY, is the same way. Even though she’s undergoing a truly traumatic situation --- she was moved to an internment camp during World War II because she’s Japanese-American --- Tomi retains her optimism and does everything she can to make things more tolerable for her family.  Read our interview with Sandra below to learn more about Tomi, Sandra’s favorite scene in RED BERRIES, WHITE CLOUDS, BLUE SKY and her advice for aspiring writers.
