Biography

Jason Cockcroft

Jason Cockcroft was born in New Zealand and raised in Leeds, England. He is best known for his internationally acclaimed picture book illustrations and for his cover artwork for the final three Harry Potter books.
 
During his time at Falmouth School of Art he entered the Macmillan Prize for Children’s Illustration, winning a place in the final exhibition where his work was noticed by publishers and agents.
 
He won the Blue Peter Award for his work on Geraldine McCaughrean’s retelling of PILGRIM'S PROGRESS, and has been nominated for the Kate Greenaway award. He is also an accomplished watercolour artist and portrait painter. His work has been exhibited in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and London.
 
In 2009 his first novel for children, Counter Clockwise, was published in the US by Harper Collins.

Magical ponies create the first snowfall of winter. On a cold, gray day, Old Man Winter leads his snow ponies outside. Everything they touch turns white with snow as they bring winter to the forest and field. At last the ponies tire, and Old Man Winter settles them down for the night in their cozy barn.
